I'm a very introverted guy when it comes to expressing myself to someone I'm interested in. That, coupled with clandestined bad luck, has formed the "charles postulate", which states: if I like a girl, and am about to express my interest, another guy will come swooping in and do so just before I have a chance to.

Since high school, this has held true about 8 times. I've tried to fight it by moving more quickly (which causes said swooping to happen faster).

I only say this, because this all happened again recently. I was interested in a friend's friend (let's call her Sandy) for a good while (I wanted to get to know her first), and a couple months ago, I expressed my interest to my friend (who was the go-between) that I would like to ask Sandy out. My friend was pretty busy, so she didn't get around to talk to Sandy until recently, and upon telling her, found out that another guy (one of Sandy's friends) had asked Sandy out just 2 days earlier.

Although fairly upsetting, I'm fairly used to this now. I just hope that the fates have some grand plan at work... so I just dust myself off and keep on going. Nevermind that it's been more than 5 years since I've been in a serious relationship.

Oh well, I'm off to TAHITI for 3 weeks! Woot! A much needed break from the monotony of work -> drawing in a cafe -> sleep -> work, repeat.
